There are numerous things to do in Negros other than eating Bacolod’s Chiken Inasal and watch the world famous Masskara Festival, one of the must visit place in Bacolod is the ruins of the mansion of Don Mariano L. Lacson in Talisay, “The Ruins” ” The Mansion” or also better known as the “Taj Mahal” of Negros, built in loving memory of of a sugar noble’s wife , though the mansion is irreparable, it was acclaimed as one of the most fascinating ruins of the world. The house met its pitiful destiny in the early World War II when the United States Armed Forces in the Far East, blazed the mansion to keep the Japanese forces from using it as their barracks and headquarters. It took days of inferno to cut down the rooftop and the two-inch thick wooden floors. Right up ’til the present time, the structure still stands tall in the midst of sugar ranch and keeps on awing both neighborhood and foreign sightseers. One of the guides there will be tell the most interesting story behind the Ruins . I won’t spoil you, so make sure to be at the right spot to stay and pick the right way to enter, it may astonish you! believe me he might tell you who you were in past ( Haha ^_^ )
The fellow who shared us the story truly gave us a decent snicker! He was so good in incorporating his jokes as he let us know about the Ruins. Certainly, you won’t get exhausted listening to him. Yes, a souvenir shop and a fine feasting restaurant is accessible inside of the premises of the mansion.
