aliwan 2009 Tuna Festival (21/25)

TUNA FESTIVAL (General Santos City)

General Santos City also celebrates the Tuna Festival to commemorate its charter anniversary.  With fishing as main engine of its prosperous development, Gen San’s float, called the balangay, symbolizes the festival’s celebration of their industrious spirit.  The swirls allude to waves and the tuna industry’s continued strength.  The myriad colors characterize the different culture that keep the industry on the move.  The paddlers reflect their unity and synchronicity in maintaining Gen San’s progressive development.   Festival muse – Romarie Cunanan.
