Festivals from different islands of our country Philippines will compete and perform in a one spectacular day and one center stage to show off their amazing ((only in the Philippines)) performance to bid for the one-million pesos


This years Aliwan Festival is scheduled April 14-16, a three day grandiose party presented by Manila Broadcasting Company, Star City, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the cities of Manila and Pasay.

I was really exited to witness once more the Aliwan fiesta 2010,.  I traveled all the way from Tacloban city to manila by plane . I arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport early in the morning, I was still tired and inactive at that time because I wasn’t able to sleep well before that day because of exitement.

Later on, I have witnessed different colorful festivals all over the country, there were 16  festivals and 12 floats and more or less 17  for reyna ng aliwan 2010 who participated,

Talking about ladies, beautiful ladies from different festivals have joined to get the crown of aliwan 2010 but only one can be hailed Reyna ng aliwan 2010….. And it is Ms. Sinulog ~ Rizzini Gomes

I was mesmerized by the beauty of the Ms. pakalog and dinagyang…

Going on, I was really happy to see pasaka of tanauan leyte especially that they improved a lot, their performance was better than to what they performed in leyte pintados 2009

I really like the Lapay Bantigue, Masbate City and Halamang Dilaw, Marilao Bulacan..

And of course the Tribu paghidaet, Dinagyang Festival,, for me it was their best performance ever performed in aliwan…. i really love dinagyang…

Buyogan Festival 2009 Aliwan Grand Champion!

This year’s participants from Cordillera administrative Region the Flower Garden City of the North, Baguio City’s immensely popular Panagbenga flower festival which showcases the many floral floats and native dances of the region.

The delegation from Pasig City presents the Pakalog Festival which focuses on the lifestyle of the early residents of Santolan District. Pakalog is an old recipe of Santolenos in preparing the native fish called “bulig”.

Pajotan Festival of caloocan is named after pajotan, a local variety of mango which bears small but sweet fruits that were once abundant in Maypajo, a village in southern Caloocan City which means “May Pajo,” short for may pajotan.

On the other hand, Cagayan Valley presents it’s Kilingkingan festival of Penablanca, An interpretation about the so call’d Kalingkingan birds.

The Caragan Festival of Mabalacat Pampanga from Central Luzon, is an ati-atihan like street parade in honor of the first Aeta Chieftain of Mabalacat.

In Central Luzon, Bulacan’s twin offerings from its regional Singkaban , the Halamanan festival of Guiguinto and the Halamang Dilaw festival of Marilao which pays tribute to the nature.

People from Tondo, Manila presents its Lakbayaw Festival that comes from the word “lakbay,” which means travel or journey and “sayaw,” which means dance

Yet, in spite the diversity of cultures, Catanauan Quezon remains steadfast in upholding the Boling-Boling Festival, an age old practice celebrated annually as a prelude to the Lenten season from Palm Sunday to Holy Tuesday.

The Bicol region showcases Masbate’s Lapay Bantigue festival ~ A mimetic dance from, that refers to lapay or sea gulls which is bountiful in Bantigue. Alongside, the Kasanggayahan festival Showcasing the Sorsogon’s abundant agricultural products.

Providing that the competition will still be intense, Iloilo will be sending three festivals, one of which is  Tribu Paghidaet, Dinagyang Festival that commemorates the Christianization of the natives and to honor the Holy Child Jesus. On the other hand the theme of Kasag festival of  Banate , Iloilo is their main source of livelihood… the “Kasag” or crab. After the drumbeats of the Dinagyang festival and Kasag festival,  Sinamba sa Paraw Regatta comes alive with the sultry moves and infectious music.

In spite that Buyugan Festival will not be able to participate in defending its title this year’s Aliwan,, Leyte will still be sending its best festival form, the Pasaka Festival of Tanauan Leyte. with the intervention of the Patroness of Tanauan,Our Lady of Assumption, it is hoped that the Pasaka contingent will do well at the Aliwan Fiesta.

Parang, Maguindanao presents both its Buklod and Padang-Padang festivals as a show of unity and peaceful coexistence among Christians and Muslims people

The people of Zamboanga  fervently believe that the lady has served as their unifying cultural and historical symbol. La Hermosa Festival or the popurlay known as Fiesta Pilar, is held in honor of the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Pilar at the legendary Fort Pila.

This year, the Aliwan grand parade will take a new route: kick off point will be at the back of the SM Mall of Asia, with the culminating streetdance showdown taking place in front of the Aliw Theater on Sotto Street, where the awarding ceremonies will follow immediately after.
